The TCF is developed and administered by the CIEP (Centre international d'études pédagogiques). It is a fast, simple and reliable means for foreign learners of French to have their French language skills officially recognized. It ranks candidate on one of six levels on a scale defined by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

The TEF is awarded by the CCIP (Chambre de Commerce et d’Industrie de Paris). Designed to test the ability of foreign learners of French to express themselves in French, it is the approved test for demonstrating French language ability for Canadian immigrants applying for Permanent Residence in the independent/skilled worker category. The test is valid for one year from the date the exam was taken.

DELF/DALF are official qualifications awarded by the French Ministry of Education to certify the competency of candidates from outside France in the French language. DELF/DALF are composed of 6 independent diplomas corresponding to the levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. This means that candidates can register for the examination of their choice, according to their level. There is also a specially adapted version of the DELF diplomas for teenagers. At each level, 4 skills are evaluated: listening, speaking, reading and writing.
